~ John Muir
Therapy is different for everyone. Our first sessions will focus on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you would like to be different in your life. From there, we will work collaboratively to determine approaches that fit your needs, personality, experiences, and goals.
Therapy with me is not about simply sitting back while you talk or giving you a list of things you “should” do. I tend to be interactive, curious, and engaged in the process, while still letting you decide where we need to go.
I work primarily with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, major life transitions, and other emotional or behavioral concerns. I also have extensive knowledge of learning differences, including dyslexia and dysgraphia, and understand the lasting emotional effects that struggling or feeling different in school can sometimes have well into adulthood.
You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or have a particular diagnosis before beginning therapy. Sometimes figuring out what is happening is part of the work we do together.
Yes. In addition to therapy, I provide targeted diagnostic assessments when a specific diagnostic question arises and an assessment is clinically appropriate. Assessment may be helpful when there are questions about conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, or other mental health concerns.
NOTE: I no longer provide comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations involving extensive IQ, academic achievement, or learning disability testing for educational planning, IEPs, or school accommodations.
My practice currently focuses primarily on adults. I may work with adolescents or younger clients in select circumstances when their needs fit my experience and approach. Please contact me if you are unsure whether I'm an appropriate fit.
Yes. I offer both in-person and telehealth therapy appointments. Telehealth can provide greater flexibility and accessibility, while some clients prefer meeting in person. We can discuss which option makes the most sense for you.
I use an integrative approach rather than expecting every client to respond to the same type of therapy. Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused approaches, mindfulness, trauma-informed therapy, nature-based approaches, animal-assisted therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other therapeutic strategies appropriate to your individual needs.
The particular techniques matter, but so does finding an approach that works for you.
Yes. I currently accept CareSource, Molina Healthcare, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Medical Mutual.
Insurance coverage varies by plan, even within the same insurance company. When you schedule online, you will be asked to provide your insurance information, and I will contact you if I don't accept your specific plan so you can decide whether to continue with me on a private-pay basis.
Please note that accepting an insurance company does not necessarily mean every plan offered by that company is covered.
Private-pay services are also available.
For clients who are not using insurance, the fee for an initial intake appointment is $225. Individual therapy sessions are $185 for 50–55 minutes.
Payments (private pay, deductibles, and copays) are due on the day of service.
You can schedule appointments directly through the online scheduling system. You must provide a credit card to reserve an appointment, and you can provide insurance information during scheduling if you plan to use insurance.
Diagnostic assessments are separate from therapy services and are priced according to the type and scope of the evaluation. Assessment fees include the clinical evaluation, administration and scoring of appropriate assessment measures, and the required level of documentation.
Additional fees may apply when extensive records review, written reports, accommodation documentation, or other specialized paperwork is required.
Finding the right therapist is personal. Credentials and experience matter, but so does whether you feel understood, respected, and able to be yourself in the room.
I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative. I will bring my training, experience, observations, and ideas to our work together, but you remain the expert on your own life. If either of us determines that another provider or type of treatment would better meet your needs, I will be straightforward about that.
First, schedule an intake session. In that session, we will get a sense of how well we work together and what our next steps should be. Scheduling is easy through the online client portal. Click the link below:
